Over the years I have had a great opportunity to work on projects that require special effects - wounds, scars tattoos or tears.
At a 7:30pm timeslot I don't get to play as much as I'd like and the wounds have to be kept subtle. Even when Claire McLeod died she had to be "beautiful" with very little blood.

This was a wonderful fim to work on. A classic "slasher" film, I got to see many stunts and special effects filmed for the first time. From a body in flames, heads chopped off, knives in chests and gory wounds galore, our makeup team and effects group really had the work cut out for us this time. It was truly an eye opener to see how all of this was shot and edited, to see how it looked on the big screen.

If you have the opportunity to hire this film at your local video store you will see just how much detail went into the makeup for this film. Makeup supervisor Jen Lamphee and myself had a specific "look" for the film and you can see the effort we took on every shot. From the stylised makeup on Kylie Minogue, the tattoos on all the characters, bodypainting and wounds,it all translates to the feeling on the film.
By the end of the film Simon Lyndon's character had put his hand through a spiked fence, been bitten on the nose, shot in the arm, jumped through a window and had a bullet graze his head. Ben Mendhelson had been through several fights and taken too many drugs, look out for his contact lenses changing colour.
